Harbour Bridge in Sydney | Australia

The Sydney Harbour Bridge is a steel through arch bridge across Sydney Harbour that carries rail, vehicular, bicycle and pedestrian traffic between the Sydney central business district (CBD) and the North Shore. The dramatic view of the bridge, the harbour, and the nearby Sydney Opera House is an iconic image of both Sydney and Australia. The bridge is locally nicknamed "The Coat Hanger" because of its arch-based design.
The iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge spans the harbour at its narrowest point between Dawes and Milsons Points. It is a double-hinged, riveted steel arch bridge with a reinforced concrete deck and reinforced concrete pylons, and at the time of its completion in 1932, it was considered the epitome of modern bridge design and engineering ingenuity.
At its highest point, the arch is 134 metres above sea level. Taking into account the road approaches, 'the bridge' is 1150 metres or about a mile long. There are 58,000 tons of steel in the bridge, the arch of which was built from both ends and met in the middle.

There are about 200 steps to the lookout, which is enough of a challenge for some. Open daily, The Pylon Lookout is one of Sydney's oldest tourist attractions.
